When you access your bank account online you probably don’t think that at that exact moment there may be a hacker, somewhere in the world, trying to steal your bank information and your money.

Your bank offers secure online banking, so why should you worry, right?

Despite banks’ efforts to protect accounts from the online crooks, hacker attacks remain a serious threat that cost Americans millions of dollars each year. The Internet Crime Complaint Center reported that Americans lost about $559 million to Internet thieves in 2009. That is more than twice the 2008 figure, when $268 million was stolen on the Internet, according to the center.

“Last year there were more online bank robberies than there were actual on-site bank robberies,” says Sean Sullivan, a security adviser at F-Secure, an Internet security firm. “Banks have become very proactive in protecting accounts from hackers, but it’s still quite a large problem. We see all types of new attempts every day.”

Biggest Threat

Banking Trojans — malicious code specifically designed for banking fraud — are one of the biggest threats to consumers who bank online, Sullivan says. They are invisible and can steal multiple types of data, including passwords. Some more advanced types of Trojans can make fraudulent transfers and drain your account while you are logged on to the account online, he says.

Is Your Bank Safe?

The more questions and passwords you are asked to enter in order to log in to your account, the safer is your bank’s website.

If your bank only asks you to enter a username and password to log in its website is not as secure as it should be, Sullivan says.

Some banks require customers to create a username, a site key name and use personalized pictures or symbols that appear during the login process. In addition, banks should ask customers to answer a security question before gaining access to their account.

“The more layers you have before you get to your account, the safer you are,” Sullivan says.

Who’s Liable?

In the event you become a victim of online theft, act quickly and know your rights. The general rule for consumer checking and savings accounts is the bank is liable for most of the damage, as long as you report the illicit transfer in a timely manner. But if you have a line of credit account or a business account, you need to be extra careful, because the bank will not always be obligated to pay for your loss.

“It is based on whether the customer’s conduct with respect to security was reasonable,” he says. In that case the court will ultimately determine who was more at fault for the breach — the bank or the consumer.

Business Accounts

Business accounts are the most vulnerable to hacker attacks and the least protected by the law. Hackers are much more inclined to break into a six-figure business account than a consumer account with a few thousand dollars, Sullivan says.

“There are hundreds of cases of thefts of money from small business deposit accounts each year,” Johnson says.

Business accounts are regulated by the Uniform Commercial Code, or UCC, which requires banks to maintain “commercial reasonable authentication security procedures,” in any kind of wire transfer, he says.

“If the bank can show the breach was caused by something the customer did the bank is not liable,” Johnson says.

California attorney Nada Alnajafi says most small businesses don’t understand the risk they are taking when they use wire-transfer accounts.

“I don’t think a lot of them understand they are taking almost full risk for any potential issues,” she says.

She is representing a small Los Angeles business owner who lost $50,000 after a hacker committed a fraudulent transfer from his Bank of America account to a Croatian Bank. She filed a lawsuit on behalf of her client against Bank of America in February because the bank refused to take responsibility for the theft, she says.

Bank of America claims it is not liable for the illicit transfer. The lawsuit is pending.

How to Help Protect Your Account

• Don’t access your account from a shared computer.

• Be certain your computer has anti-virus, firewall and anti-spyware programs, including security software with automatic updates.

• If you are using wireless service, check the settings on your computer to make sure the connection is encrypted. Don’t connect to your account using a public network, like the ones you find at a coffee shop or at the airport.

• Review your statements regularly and carefully, and report any suspicious activity to your bank immediately.

• Use a strong password with letters and numbers combined. Don’t use the same password for multiple accounts.

• Log out after every session.

The easiest way to make rice well every time is to use a rice cooker. If you don’t have one, or don’t want one, though, here’s a no-fail recipe for rice that one of my grandmothers taught my mother, who taught me. This one, I use mainly for seasoned rice dishes because things can be added to it before boiling, or broth (a plain soup) can be used in place of water.

This is for 4 substantial servings (4 rice bowls).
You will need:
1 large saucepan, or a short pot.
2 cups of white rice, preferably persian, glutinous, or converted, depending on how sticky you like it.
2 tablespoons of butter, margarine, rendered fat, or vegetable oil.
water or broth as needed (usually 3 to 3.5 cups)
salt to taste

Directions:
1.Put the rice in the bottom of the saucepan, and wash it thoroughly by rinsing, and then pouring off the cloudy water. Repeat until you
can recognize grains of rice through the water, and then pour this last rinse out.
2.Put your middle finger in the saucepan until it touches the bottom, and put in water or broth until the level reaches the second line of
your finger.
3.Add your salt and oil.
4.Place on the stove, and cover loosely, which means there should be a centimeter of space between the side of the cover and the edge
of the pot or saucepan.
5.Turn on the stove at medium/low heat, and leave it alone for about 20 minutes.
6.Check to see if it’s done, and if not, come back every 5 minutes.
7.If you need to check, and can’t tell from looking at the top, stick a spoon in the middle, and push gently to the side to see if there is any
water left. If there is, then move the rice back to cover the hole. Try not to touch it too much.
8.If you run out of water before the rice is the level of softness you want, in the well you make in it for checking, just pour a quarter cup
of hot water to the middle, and move the rice back over to cover the water.
9.When it’s done, turn off the heat, and cover the rice completely, and let it sit for 5 minutes.
10.Stir, and then serve.
Then, there is the other absolute sure-fire way that my other grandmother taught me. This is how I cook rice when I want it somewhat plain.

You will need:
However much rice you want up to 5 cups.
A pot of water, salted, with about a tablespoon of oil
A strainer
A large bowl
Directions:
1.Set the pot of oiled and salted water on high heat.
2.In a large bowl, rinse the rice repeatedly, until the water is somewhat clear.
3.Drain as much water as you can from the rice, and then wait ’til your water on the stove boils.
4.When the water reaches a fast, rolling boil, gently pour in the rice.
5.Stir to make sure the rice doesn’t stick together, and then wait.
6.Occasionally stir the rice, and after 10 minutes, check to see if it’s done.
7.Check every two minutes after that, and when it’s as soft as you like, turn off the heat and then pour the contents of the pot into a
strainer.
8.Shake the strainer a bit, to get out as much excess water as possible, and then return the rice to the now empty pot.
9.Season to taste, and then serve.
Rice cooked this way can also be used for rice balls, unless it is parboiled rice. Parboiled rice should never be used if you prefer it sticky on its own, but is the best to use when making the deep fried breaded rice balls.

More Rice Tips
For golden coloured rice, stir a teaspoon of turmeric into the water before the rice begins to cook.
Seasoning blocks or bouillon give a nice flavor to rice. It will need to be stirred after cooking to evenly distribute it though.
Use leftover rice to make fried rice. It can also be used to add a bit of starch to a meatloaf in place of bread crumbs.
Never let cooked rice sit out for more than a couple of hours without keeping it very hot. Rice turns very quickly. To serve it at parties that may last awhile, but keep it from burning at the bottom, put it in a pan atop a pan of water that is over a tea light or other warmer. To cool it off quickly before it turns after a meal, transfer it from the pot to smaller containers.
If you are on a salt restricted diet but don’t like your rice too sweet, use a couple of dashes of pepper and salt free chicken broth to enhance the taste.

Cooking lobster is relatively easy. There are hundred’s of recipes on the internet or in books. The simplest way is to split the shell down the top, pull the meat out of the shell about 90% of the way and lay it on top of the shell. Place in a pan with a little water and cover with foil (do not let the foil touch the lobster). Cook at 350 degrees until the meat turns white (around 140 F) then baste with butter and season with salt and pepper. As with any food, avoid the temptation to overcook it. When overcooked the lobster meat will become tough and less appealing.

You need to meet the doctors at Naidu hospital for examination.

Where is Naidu hospital?
Naidu hospital is located near the Pune railway station. It is next to Hotel Le Meridian next to Raja Bahadur mill. When you go towards Le Meridian from RTO, take a left turn just before Le Meridian hotel and follow the signs.

What procedure do I have to follow at Naidu hospital?
- Locate the Quarantine ward at Naidu hospital. It is at ward number 7.
- Meet the doctors for counseling. Doctors would guide you through the process.
- The doctors decide whether you need to be administered the test or not.
- In case you need not be tested, you are free to leave.

What tests are done by the doctors?
- In case you need to go through the test, you need to stay in the quarantine for a day. A sample of saliva is taken on a swab from your throat and nose. This sample is sent to National Institute of Virology (NIV) Pune. NIV tests the sample and declares the result by 3 pm if the sample is sent before 8 am on the same day. The result could be positive or negative or there is no decision.
- In case you are negative, you can go home.
- In case there is no decision, you need to stay one more day in the quarantine. Sample is taken the next day and testing is done.
- In case you are positive, you have H1N1 virus infection. In that case, you need to be in the quarantine ward for five days including the day of testing. Medicines are given to you and doctors visit you two or three times a day. Preventive medication is also given to your family members. On the fifth day, testing is done to confirm that the test is negative.

What do I expect at the quarantine?
- The quarantine area is a hospital ward.
- The hospital provides a bed and masks to you.
- You need to wear a mask all the time.
- Carry a mobile phone so that you can reach your family using the phone.
- Ask your family members to get you food, water and tea/coffee/milk.
- You can take your laptop and reading material so that you can spend your time well during your stay at the hospital.
- Toilets are common for the ward. There is no hot water in the bathroom, so taking bath is optional.
- Your family members cannot meet you. They can meet the attendant and hand over your tiffin to the attendant. The attendant will hand over the tiffin to you.
- If your young child is infected, you can help her/him by being with her/him in the quarantine. You cannot get out during the mandatory period. You need to take medication to prevent the infection and also wear a mask at all times.

The Correct Way To Drink Water:

1). Start any application, say Word. Open some large documents.

2). Press CTRL+SHIFT+ESC to open Windows Task Manager and click Processes tab and sort the list in descending order on Mem Usage. You will notice that WINWORD.EXE will be somewhere at the top, using multiple MBs of memory.

3). Now switch to Word and simply minimize it. (Don’t use the Minimize All Windows option of the task bar).

4). Now go back to the Windows Task Manager and see where WINWORD.EXE is listed. Most probably you will not find it at the top. You will typically have to scroll to the bottom of the list to find Word. Now check out the amount of RAM it is using. Surprised? The memory utilization has reduced by a huge amount.

5). Minimize each application that you are currently not working on by clicking on the Minimize button & you can increase the amount of available RAM by a substantial margin. Depending upon the number and type of applications you use together, the difference can be as much as 50 percent of extra RAM.

In any multitasking system, minimizing an application means that it won’t be utilized by the user right now. Therefore, the OS automatically makes the application use virtual memory & keeps bare minimum amounts of the code in physical RAM.
